Professor William (Bill) Harris
19 April 1952 to 9 January 2024
Last week we farewelled a much loved, valued and popular member of our community, Professor Bill Harris. It is difficult to summarise a life of such colossal achievement in a few sentences, so below we have included a link to Bill’s funeral. The eulogies reflected a life well lived with the common themes of Bill’s character being, humility, passion and compassion. Of course there was a string of other adjectives mentioned, but one speaker said that when an academic dies, it’s like a library closing. That is certainly true of Bill, he was indeed an intellectual giant and a true gentleman.
