Wreath Laid on ANZAC Day on behalf of COL Club Dunedin On behalf of the Cedars of Lebanon Club Dunedin, a wreath was laid for the remembrance of our fallen members at the ANZAC Dawn Service in Dunedin, Friday 25th April 2014.

Nat Geo Genetic Project:  Findings - Dunedin Lebanese Community Hi Everyone,

We are excited to announce the findings of the National Geographic Genetic Project that was performed on the Dunedin Lebanese Community, by Dr Lisa Matisoo-Smith.

Scattered Cedars - Book Launch - 17th Dec 2013

Scattered Cedars - Book Launch Greetings Folks,

We wanted to let you know that the book launch function for our revised edition of Lebanon's Children book called 'Scattered Cedars' will be held on Saturday 8th March at the Dunedin Club.  More details to follow closer to the time.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible to see the finished product of such a fantastic and worthwhile project.  We think you'll be very proud of the way it has turned out.

Last day to get genetic mapping done! - 27th Sep 2013

Last day to get genetic mapping done! For those of you who missed out getting the DNA swab done in Dunedin for the National Geographic Genetic Mapping project, Lisa will be sampling at the Otago Museum this Sunday the 29th as part of a DNA day. This will be the last general Dunedin sampling.  So if you wish to go, please tell Lisa that you would like your sample to be included as a part of the Dunedin Lebanese Community.

Ben LaHood - Achievements in his field - 14th Aug 2013

Ben LaHood - Achievements in his field We have a lot of talent in our community, and Ben LaHood is certainly testament to this.

Please see the accompanying picture to read the article on Ben LaHood in the Magazine of Ophthalmic Optics. It covers the fact that Ben was the first person ever to be awarded 2 prizes in an ophthalmology diploma course run jointly by the Universities of Sydney and Otago. Subsequent to that article Ben won a third prize awarded by those 2 universities – the Anthony Molteno award for getting the highest mark in Optics.
